Hexham Abbey Festival Chorus Concert

Brahms – A German Requiem, op. 45 & Geistliches Lied, op. 30
Soprano – Laurie Ashworth; Baritone – Patrick Owston
Conductor – David Murray; piano duet – Eileen Bown and Michael Haynes

Brahms – Trio for horn, violin & piano in E flat, op. 40
Christopher Griffiths – horn; Martin Hughes – violin; David Murray – piano

Tonight’s programme shows Brahms at the height of his creative powers. His great choral master work, A German Requiem, is presented in the composer’s beautiful version for chorus and piano duet – four hands, one piano. A real treat for fans of Brahms and a great introduction to those less familiar with this work.

Please remember your cushion – the Abbey pews are very hard!
