The Schools’ Youth Singing Project

The schools’ youth singing project making a welcome return to the Festival programme. The project is led again this year by local musician Fiona Lander, one of the region’s best loved singers, a renowned song writer and educator. In celebration of the 1350th anniversary of the foundation of Hexham Abbey, Fiona has composed a new work that references some of the early Abbey saints. Following singing workshops with 250 pupils from local First, Middle and High Schools, the project culminates in the opening performance of the Festival.
