Hexham Abbey Festival Chorus and Orchestra
Haydn: The Creation
Conductor: David Murray
Soloists: Ana Fernandez (soprano); Tiana Chan (soprano); Tom Raskin (tenor); Philip Smith (bass)
Orchestra leader: Martin Hughes
The Festival Chorus and Orchestra, along with a top line-up of soloists and conducted by David Murray, perform Joseph Haydn’s masterpiece The Creation. With the foundation of Hexham Abbey in 674, and with our collective thoughts focused on “how might it have been, all those years ago,” it didn’t seem that much of a leap to choose Haydn’s wonderful evocation of the creation. In words and music, this surely is one of the pillars of Western music. Be sure to get your ticket early for this concert.
Please remember your cushion – the Abbey pews are very hard!
