The Flavour of France

Hexham Abbey Festival Chorus and Orchestra

Sally Harrison – Soprano
Ross Ramgobin – Baritone
Michael Haynes – Organ
David Murray – Conductor and piano

The main work in the second half of the Festival Chorus and Orchestra’s concert is the ever popular Requiem by Gabriel Fauré.  Before this the beautiful choral settings of Panis Angelicus and the Cantique de Jean Racine are interspersed with the fantastic Histoires Naturelles of Ravel, for baritone and piano.

Debussy’s evocative Air de Lia (L’Enfant Prodigue) for soprano and piano, and choral works by Saint-Saëns (Calme des nuits; Les fleurs et les arbres) and Morten Lauridsen’s Dirait–on from Les Chansons des Roses complete the first half.
